275 Gordon Whittington - The Emerging 300"

There have been far more 300" non-typical bucks killed since the early 2000s than ever documented before the year 2000.  So what gives?  Gordon Whittington, the Editor in Chief of North American Whitetail joins us for a second time to explore just that.  Is it genetics, is it food, what can history tell us from hundreds of years ago, what about the big deer that came in the decades before the new millennium?  We discuss all this in detail and dig deep into the Luke Brewster buck story, the monster Illinois buck from 2018, currently featured in North American Whitetail Magazine.

274 Harmon Carson - Bowhunting Big West and the Bayou

Although Harmon Carson is known as the Bayou Bowhunter, he sharpened his  bowhunting skills in the in the mountains of Colorado.  Harmon credits his dad for lots of his skills, but not necessarily in the traditional father/son teaching sense.  In many cases, Harmon learned to hunt because his father would escort him into the woods, but from then on he was on his own to learn the rest - methods that might not fly today. Nonetheless, those lessons made Harmon one heck of a good bowhunter - no more gun, no more compound, just straight up traditional bowhunting. Harmon says, learn to hunt first and the weapon you choose becomes irrelevant.
